Reporter makes odd reference to this Super Bowl during Hurricane Milton coverage

Anything can happen or be said on live television, especially if you’re reporting during a hurricane. The Weather Channel had some jokes, or they at least thought they did during their coverage of Hurricane Milton this past week.

Reporter Paul Goodloe knew that the back half of Hurricane Milton would be a bit more aggressive than the first part. So he felt the need to compare it to the New England Patriots’ 28-3 comeback in Super Bowl 51 against the Atlanta Falcons.

During live coverage of the hurricane, Goodloe said, “I think back to the Atlanta Falcons’ first-half Super Bowl winner. We know what happened to the second half when the Patriots came back to life. So, do not sleep on the second half of Milton. We’re definitely concerned now…”

Of course the storm’s back end surge makes for a clear reference to the Patriots second-half comeback, and we can’t handle this hurricane like the Falcons did the Patriots in that game, you follow?

The comparison between the two seems somewhat relatable, but it may seem a bit of a reach.

Hurricane Milton wasn’t taking place in New England, Atlanta, or even Houston for that matter where that game took place. Yes, Tom Brady is now a Florida resident but the storm missed the greater Miami area.

Godloe is also from New Rochelle, New York, so he should have no investment in either team. However, he reports for The Weather Channel, which is based in Atlanta, Georgia.

It all makes sense now, or does it?
