Kennesaw Woman Accused of Biting Police Officer during Arrest

Abbey Leigh Garland, 22, of Kennesaw, is accused of biting an officer on the shin of his left leg, breaking the skin and drawing blood, while resisting attempts to arrest her on Oct. 20 at 11:10 p.m. at an apartment at 1750 Shiloh Road NW in Kennesaw, within the MAA Shiloh Apartments. The officer had to seek medical care at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.

Garland is also accused of entering the apartment while in a manic reaction to smoking or ingesting marijuana. Garland grabbed a brown lamp, broke it on a marble table and then proceeded to chase the victim with the lamp. The victim stated he did not know Garland and she had no reason to enter his apartment, according to the warrant.

Garland is charged with burglary – first degree; obstruction felony; aggravated assault article; criminal damage – second degree; two counts of battery – visible harm; and disorderly conduct – person. She was arrested on Oct. 21 at 9:24 a.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.
