About a dozen east Cobb homes were damaged by a tornado this past weekend, a National Weather Service survey team determined Tuesday.
The team visited a neighborhood off Bryant Lane Tuesday afternoon to survey damage caused by an early Sunday morning storm and determined a brief EF1 tornado with winds of 95 miles an hour had hit the area.
The tornado caused damage to homes on Corral Drive and Bridal Path, according to the county. Several residents were displaced and fire crews reported one minor injury, county officials said.
No tornado warnings were issued in the county during the storm.
“This is an example of how everyone needs to stay aware of hazardous weather even when no warnings are issued,” said Cobb Emergency Management Director Cassie Mazloom. “We are fortunate no one was seriously injured.”
Cobb County Emergency Management’s damage assessment reporting form is still active.
