Former Cobb County Superior Court Judge Reuben Green died Thursday evening while in hospice, a Cobb County District Attorney spokesperson has confirmed.
Green had been diagnosed with cancer.
Green was appointed to the Superior Court bench by former Gov. Sonny Perdue in 2010 and served until 2020, when he was unseated by Judge Angela Brown.
During his tenure, Green presided over the Cobb County Veterans Accountability and Treatment Court, which works with honorably discharged veterans who have service connected issues that have led them, in part, to be involved in the criminal justice system.
Before joining the Superior Court bench, Green worked as Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Georgia, working to prosecute drug trafficking organizations and violent career criminals. He was also an assistant DA for the Cobb DA’s office.
His law career began at King & Spalding, where his practice focused on employment discrimination, product liability and general civil litigation.
