‘Upside down’ snowstorm could bring up to 2 inches in south metro Atlanta

State officials are warning the public to stay home and prepare for up to 48 hours of extreme cold that will bring the potential for snow to parts of Georgia that haven’t seen such a storm in nearly 40 years.

The “upside down” snowstorm is expected to bring up to an inch of snow in metro Atlanta and several inches across the southern half of the state Tuesday, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Gov. Brian Kemp urged residents Tuesday to prepare for the storm arriving in the afternoon amid frigid temperatures that have already claimed at least one life — a “critical needs patient” who was outdoors overnight and died of hypothermia. The individual’s identity and location were not provided.
