In a significant crackdown on drug and gang activity, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 53 individuals in a sweep dubbed Operation One Star. The operation, which took a collaborative stance involving local and federal law enforcement partners, was focused on reducing violence and gang presence in the area. FOX5 Atlanta reported that among those detained, five are believed to have gang affiliations.
Arrestees from the bust are staring down a slew of charges, including drug trafficking and weapons violations. According to details from Atlanta News First, the substances seized include about 20 pounds of fentanyl, 26.5 pounds of methamphetamine, and smaller amounts of cocaine, marijuana, prescription pills, and liquid narcotics. Carried out with the weight of 13 firearms and more than $47,000 in cash, the operation also bolstered Gwinnett County’s ongoing fight against crime.
