Snellville Middle students facing charges after gun, ammunition found in backpacks at school

SNELLVILLE, Ga. — Two Snellville Middle School students are facing charges after bringing a gun and ammunition in their backpacks to school last week, according to the school district.

According to a letter to parents from the school’s principal, a teacher had observed two students being “suspicious.” The teacher then reported the concern to an administrator, which prompted a search of their backpacks.

That’s when a handgun was found in one student’s backpack and an ammunition magazine in the other student’s backpack, along with several bullets in the student’s sock, according to the principal’s letter…
