100 citations issued at attempted street-racing meetup at DeKalb County park, police say

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A large gathering for a street racing meetup at Wade Walker Park in DeKalb County resulted in more than 100 citations over the weekend. A warrant has also been issued for a suspected organizer of street racing meetups, according to DeKalb County Police.

The massive meetup happened on May 10 during the overnight hours. According to the DeKalb County Police Department, officers responded to a call about the meet-up around 1:15 a.m. at the park on Rockbridge Road.

Police were able to stop more than 100 vehicles at the attempted street racing meetup, officers said. DeKalb Police said they blocked the drivers from exiting the park and called in support from other agencies, including police from Stone Mountain and Lithonia.
