‘Have completely revolutionized law enforcement’ | California college program helps open up a Twiggs County cold case

TWIGGS COUNTY, Ga. — The search for Teresa Dean, who had been missing since 1999, took a new turn this month as 13 criminal justice students from La Sierra University in California teamed up with local law enforcement in Twiggs County.

The students participated in Operation Georgia Peach, a multi-agency effort that included the Georgia Emergency Community Response Team and Redemption Road K9, to find answers in a decades-old cold case.

The students’ involvement was part of a Department of Labor–approved micro internship. It’s designed to give students hands-on experience in forensic science, canine handling, and real-world investigations…
