DECATUR, Ga. — A judge on Tuesday sentenced a man to two consecutive life sentences, plus 20 years, for raping a woman in unincorporated Stone Mountain nearly 40 years ago, according to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office.
On May 20, jurors convicted Reginald Colwell, 58, of kidnapping, rape, and aggravated assault in connection with the incident on Dec. 30, 1988.
Investigators used DNA technology not available at the time on preserved evidence to link Colwell to the rape of a 20-year-old woman.
