Mechanics charged with trafficking more than 1 ton of meth from auto repair shop

ATLANTA (WANF/Gray News) – Two auto mechanics in Georgia are behind bars after federal agents uncovered a massive amount of methamphetamine.

According to investigators, Daniel Santana-Lopez, 39, was pulled over after leaving an auto repair shop where he worked as a mechanic. While searching his vehicle, authorities said they found more than 2,200 pounds of meth.

About an hour after Santana-Lopez’s arrest, authorities stopped another employee, Snellville resident Jared Thompson, 41, as he was leaving the DeKalb County shop. A search of Thompson’s vehicle uncovered more than 300 pounds of the same narcotic and a gun, according to attorneys prosecuting the case…
