Man Arrested Near Atlanta Airport Runway After Allegedly Using Bolt Cutters To Breach Perimeter

The Atlanta Police Department has released video footage showing the arrest of a man who allegedly used bolt cutters to break into a restricted area at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport last week, triggering a temporary halt to nearby flight operations.

On July 9 the Airport Operations Center received a 911 call reporting that a man had breached the perimeter fence and entered the air operations area. Police released audio of that 911 call, in which a man says he had just picked up his wife from the airport and was driving just outside the airfield on Loop Road when he saw a “gentleman” using “wire cutters” on the fence.

“He’s inside the airfield now. I’m looking at him right now,” the man says…
