Florida Mother Arrested in Georgia on Suspicion of Child Abduction, Two Children Safely Recovered

A close of an interstate search ended in Georgia as two Florida children were found and their mother arrested on suspicion of abduction. FOX 5 Atlanta reports that the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office deployed multiple units to a McDonough hotel to apprehend 43-year-old Audrey Turner. The arrest occurred on August 21, a consequence of several tips pointing to Turner’s whereabouts.

An Amber Alert issued in Florida and later extended to Georgia had law enforcement on high alert after Turner allegedly fled with her two sons, ages 3 and 11, from Riviera Beach, Florida. Authorities feared they were heading toward Atlanta, in a distinctively damaged black Toyota Camry. According to Patch.com, local and interstate authorities, including Georgia’s Clayton County Police Department, Henry County Police Department, Hampton Police Department, and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office worked in conjunction to close the dragnet.

The children, identified as Aizon and Akachi Turner, were safely recovered and have been placed in the care of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, highlighting a small victory in a case that had the public on edge.
