Georgia mother cleared after false positive drug tests in child welfare case

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A Cherokee County mother has been cleared by child welfare officials after false positive drug test results nearly separated her from her children.

Elisa Trantham, a veteran paramedic and mother of four, found herself under investigation by the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) in 2024 after keeping her 7-year-old daughter home from school due to severe medical issues.

The ordeal began when Trantham’s daughter developed serious bladder and gastric problems.
