Lawrenceville teen convicted of killing Suwanee teen during gun buy-turned robbery

A Lawrenceville teen will serve a life sentence in prison for murdering another teen during a gun purchase turned robbery in Suwanee three years ago, according to the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office.

Miguel Gabriel Flores, 19, was convicted this week on three counts of felony murder, theft by taking, aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit a robbery in connection with the July 2022 death of 16-year-old Abel Castellanos. Flores will serve a life sentence with the possibility of parole for his role in Castellanos’ murder.

“No plans surrounding crime and guns can end well,” District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said. “Our hope is that this outcome begins the healing process for the victim’s loved ones and family.”…
