Pebblebrook Community Reacts to BB Gun Incident, School Safety Measures Under Spotlight

Mableton residents were shaken Tuesday when a fight at Pebblebrook High School in Cobb County escalated into a weapon-related incident, prompting a Code-Red lockdown. Two students, Jesus Arellano Hernandez and Isaac Abraham Morales, both 17, were charged in connection with the altercation after a BB gun was brought to the school, according to the Cobb County School District.

The incident reportedly began around 10:45 a.m. in a school bathroom, where Hernandez and Morales fought. Hernandez allegedly pulled a BB gun from his backpack and struck Morales with it. Morales then took possession of the weapon and continued the fight, according to arrest warrants. Surveillance footage captured the altercation and was later turned over to the district’s Property and Evidence Unit.

While the situation prompted a temporary lockdown, the community was advised that the district acted quickly and effectively. “The safety of the Cobb County School District is our number one priority,” said Cobb School Board member Leroy “Tre” Hutchins.

The two students involved face multiple charges. Morales was charged with possession of a weapon on school property, fighting, obstruction of law enforcement, and possession of a pistol or revolver by a person under 18.
