Forsyth County, GA – A Forsyth County man was arrested this week after deputies say he attempted to steal more than $600 in merchandise from a local Hobby Lobby.
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened Monday, September 15, when Michael Tyrone Jones allegedly concealed store items inside a bag while shopping. Deputies say an employee spotted the actions on security cameras and contacted authorities while confronting the suspect.
When deputies arrived, Jones was allegedly preparing to leave the store with the concealed items. Officials said the merchandise totaled $614.92, surpassing Georgia’s $500 threshold for felony shoplifting.
