On October 20, 2025, the Milton City Council recognized Terre O’Brien, a local tennis coach, during its regular meeting at City Hall. Dozens of supporters attended the meeting to acknowledge O’Brien’s long-term contributions to the community. Mayor Peyton Jamison led the recognition and highlighted O’Brien’s dedication to tennis in Milton.
O’Brien began coaching in the mid-1990s at courts on Dinsmore Road after playing on the professional ATP tour for nine years. He continues to coach at the same location, now called the Milton Tennis Center at Milton City Park and Preserve. O’Brien’s teams have won more division titles in the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association (ALTA) than any other coach in the area. He currently leads 14 ALTA and six USTA teams and works with the Milton Parks and Recreation Department.
The Council meeting also included the approval of several municipal agreements. The Georgia Department of Transportation will provide $3.95 million for preliminary engineering to widen Highway 9 between Windward Parkway and the Forsyth County line. The Council also approved agreements for a multi-use trail around downtown Milton, the development of a new Comprehensive Plan with Kimley-Horn, and the renewal of contracts for digital services such as DocuSign and JustFOIA…
