Freemanville Road Bridge Replacement: Work Begins, Expect Detours and Delays for Local Residents

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has started initial work to replace the Freemanville Road bridge over Cooper Sandy Creek. The bridge, located between Providence Road and Landrum Road, was identified for replacement during GDOT’s regular inspections and funding reviews. The new bridge will have one 11-foot lane in each direction, shoulders, and space for a future multiuse path.

This fall, a half-mile work zone is being cleared and utilities are being relocated to prepare for construction. After the current bridge is removed, a detour will be in place for several months. Weekday traffic delays are expected between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Residents can check the City’s Facebook page or sign up for notifications for updates on the project and detour…..
