Driver pleads guilty, gets 16 years in prison in 2023 Gwinnett racing crash that left five teenagers dead

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — The driver in a 2023 Labor Day crash that left five teenagers dead will spend 16 years in prison after pleading guilty in the case, court records show.

Emanuel Esfahani and a truck were racing on the Route 316 skyway ramp to I-85 South in Gwinnett County when the crash occurred more than two years ago, before they collided and the truck was sent flying over a barrier on to an exit ramp more than 30 feet below.
