Reward in Smyrna fire-homicide upped to $20k, police looking for ‘prowler’

The reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect connected to a Smyrna fire-turned-homicide investigation has risen to $20,000, Smyrna Police report.

The reward is being offered for information related to the homicide of 32-year-old Mary Olivia Matthews, a local playwright, whose body was found inside a unit at the Bella 810 apartment complex on the morning of Sept 3.

Police say the homicide occurred at approximately 4 a.m. the morning of the fire. At the time of the incident, firefighters were called to the scene to reports of a structural fire…
