Police: Two women accused of faking meth with Epsom salt in $15K drug sting

Destiny L. Welch, 36, of Conyers, and Kaylie Ann Bashe, 31, of Lilburn are accused of purchasing 11 pounds of Epsom salt and intentionally packaging it in a manner to appear as methamphetamine on Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. at an apartment at 1035 Franklin Gateway in Marietta, in the Barcelo at East Cobb apartment complex, according to arrest warrants from the Cobb County Police Department.

Welch and Bashe traveled to a predetermined deal location to meet with an undercover police officer to conduct a narcotics transaction. The officer agreed on a price of $15,000 for five kilograms of methamphetamine. The pair provided pictures of the substance being misrepresented as meth. The pair stated they intentionally brought salt to the transaction to profit from the $15,000 the officer had agreed to pay them. Bashe was also found to be in possession of 24.3 grams of methamphetamine, which was found in the driver’s side door of the car she was driving, according to the warrants.

Welch is charged with theft by deception – greater than $1,500; and criminal attempt – misdemeanor. She was arrested on Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records…
