A Gainesville man who pled guilty to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Cherokee County will spend 25 years in prison.
In a negotiated plea, Michael Dennis Shumaker, 32, of Gainesville, pled guilty Oct. 20 to aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, statutory rape, and two counts of sexual exploitation of children, the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Chief Superior Court Judge David Cannon Jr. sentenced Shumaker to life, with the first 25 years to be served in prison without the possibility of parole.
