MARIETTA, Ga. — As the trial for the man accused in the 2021 killings of a Cobb County couple inside their home continued for its third day on Wednesday, the Google history for the man on trial came to light, some of which included both grim and grisly searches.
Matthew Lanz, who was 22 at the time, is accused of breaking into his neighbor’s Acworth home and killing Justin and Amber Hicks, all while leaving their 2-year-old son inside the house for roughly 12 hours all alone on Nov. 17, 2021.
Lanz, a University of Georgia student at the time of the killings, was seemingly fixated on the house where they lived near his own parents’ home, which his brother had been accused of breaking into and harassing before the Hicks family even lived there. Despite that, his killing of the Hickses appeared to lack a direct motive which made the murders even more difficult to process…
