Georgia authorities seize over 700 kilos of meth in two operations

FULTON/HALL COUNTIES, Ga. (WJBF) – In two separate operations, over 700 kilograms of methamphetamine were seized in the state of Georgia.

In Hall County, Georgia, narcotics investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Special Investigations Unit (SIU), with assistance from FBI – Atlanta, last week seized 300 kilos (661 lbs.) of crystal methamphetamine. The street value of the methamphetamine was estimated at $22.5 million.

According to a Facebook Post, on Friday, November 21st, just before 3 a.m., HCSO investigators and federal agents located a refrigerated box truck parked outside of a business in the 1400 block of McEver Road.

The truck was believed to contain illegal narcotics from Mexico that had been transported to metro Atlanta for distribution throughout North Georgia. An HCSO K9 Unit responded to the location, and the K9 made a positive alert on the vehicle. After obtaining a search warrant, investigators opened the back of the vehicle and located the packages of meth hidden in a shipment of blackberries.

While the driver of the truck was not with the vehicle at the time of the drug seizure, he was arrested later in the day at his residence off Browns Bridge Road. The driver has been identified as Gerardo Solorio-Alvarado, 44, a native of Mexico living in Gainesville. He is being held without bond on a felony charge of methamphetamine trafficking…
