Suwanee Police investigating after resident scammed out of more than $25,000

The Suwanee Police Department is investigating after a resident was scammed out of more than $25,000 from a group claiming to be with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO).

The incident allegedly occurred in late October, when a suspect identified himself as “Special Agent Green.” The suspect contacted the victim from an unknown number before calling from a spoofed Gwinnett County number.

They reportedly told the victim that her loved one could be released from jail immediately if bond was paid through a mobile payment. After sending those payments, the suspects escalated the scam by telling the victim she had outstanding warrants for missing jury duty…
