Midtown bar owner reports threatening call as case against Atlanta police officer moves forward

ATLANTA — The owner of a popular Midtown Atlanta bar said he received a threatening phone call just hours after meeting with prosecutors as a high-profile case involving an Atlanta police officer moves forward.

James Nelson, owner of X Midtown on Piedmont Avenue, said the call came early Dec. 17, shortly after he began cooperating with the Fulton County Solicitor General’s Office in its review of a fight involving Officer Garrett Rolfe.

Nelson said he does not know who made the call, but believes the timing is concerning as he continues to push for accountability…
