Suspected Atlanta Murderer Surrenders Peacefully After Alpharetta Hotel Standoff with FBI SWAT Team

A tense standoff at an Alpharetta hotel ended peacefully yesterday afternoon when a man suspected of murder surrendered to the authorities after barricading himself in a hotel room. FOX 5 Atlanta reports that Quintavious Malcom, the individual in question, was arrested at the Comfort Suites on Kingswood Drive. The arrest occurred while officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant due to Malcom’s alleged involvement in a November 5 shooting that took the life of a 39-year-old man in northeast Atlanta.

The standoff triggered a response from both local law enforcement and federal agents. The father of the suspect, Clifford Timmons, became an unexpected intermediary during the crisis, as FOX 5 Atlanta learned from an interview. Timmons had rushed to the scene after being informed of his son’s predicament.

“My son got barricaded in the room because he didn’t want to go to jail,” Clifford Timmons stated. In a display of paternal concern, he worked with negotiators and ultimately was able to speak to his son by phone, convincing him to surrender. “I got him on the phone to talk to him, let him know that I’m here for him, and help him get out of prison,” Timmons told FOX 5. Despite acknowledging that the authorities were seeking his son in connection with a homicide, Timmons maintained his son’s innocence, contending, “They allegedly say he murdered someone, but he didn’t murder no one.”…
