Hoschton teen arrested after chase through Hall, Gwinnett

A Hoschton teen was arrested Sunday after allegedly leading authorities on a chase through Hall and Gwinnett counties while a runaway juvenile was in the vehicle with him.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement Wednesday saying the chase started just before 5:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, when Leandro Garcia Juarez, age 17, fled from a traffic stop in the Kroger parking lot on Spout Springs Road near Thompson Mill Road in Braselton. The traffic stop came after a deputy said he saw Garcia Juarez driving the Chevrolet Silverado at high speeds on Spout Springs Road.

“The deputy detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Garcia Juarez, so he ordered the driver out of the vehicle,” the report from the sheriff’s office said. “Garcia Juarez refused multiple orders to exit his vehicle, so the deputy opened the vehicle door, removed the driver’s seat belt and attempted to remove him from the vehicle. At that point, Garcia Juarez sped away from the traffic stop.”

Garcia Juarez then allegedly drove out of the parking lot onto Sparta Way, eventually heading southbound on Thompson Mill Road into Gwinnett County. The chase ended when Garcia Juarez hit two vehicles near Sardis Church Road…
