Police say man tossed meth during 112 mph chase

Kenneth Robert Taylor, 49, of Hiram, is accused of throwing two plastic bags, both containing methamphetamine, out of his 2025 Ford Ranger while fleeing law enforcement on Dec. 19 at 5:17 p.m. at the intersection of Oak Ridge Road and Ivy Pointe Row in Austell. The thrown bags were retrieved and their total weight was 1.96 pounds, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.

Taylor fled a traffic stop initiated at Riverside Parkway and Concept 21 Circle in Austell. Cobb Police and Cobb Sheriff’s Office vehicles with blue lights and sirens activated pursued. During the chase, Taylor traveled at 112 miles per hour on Riverside Parkway, which has a posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour. He then fled at 81 miles per hour on Oak Ridge Road, which has a posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour. Throughout the pursuit, Taylor often traveled on the wrong side of several two-lane roads, according to the warrant.

Taylor is charged with trafficking methamphetamine; driving – fleeing/attempting to elude; driving – suspended license; driving – failure to maintain lane; and tampering – tamper with evidence – misdemeanor. He was arrested on Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records…
