EVANS COUNTY, Ga. – A 50-year-old Claxton man is in critical condition after shooting himself during an attempted arrest at his home Friday evening, according to investigators.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident at the request of the Evans County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said deputies were attempting to execute an arrest warrant for David Stokes at a residence on Bill Hodges Road at approximately 5:42 p.m. on Saturday, January 17th.
