HANCONCK COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) confirmed an inmate at the Hancock State Prison died Sunday after an altercation with another inmate.
According to the department, Steven Wood was pronounced dead on Jan. 25, 2026. Wood was serving Life with Parole for Murder out of Cherokee County.
Wood’s body was taken to the coroner and will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab to determine the official cause of death…
