A tragic incident at an extended-stay motel in Gwinnett County left a family mourning and a community in shock, as 17-year-old Sheldon Lewis lost his life to a stray bullet while inside his room. FOX5 Atlanta reports that the Gwinnett County police have arrested Shemarcus Cockran, 31, the man allegedly responsible for the accidental discharge that became deadly.
The shooting happened as Lewis and his family were living at the Live-In Lodge Extended Stay due to financial hardships. Sheldon’s sister, Tomyia Lewis, shared with FOX5 Atlanta that witnessing the shooting “makes it more traumatic than it seems.” The ordeal was compounded by the fact that Sheldon’s mother is currently battling cancer.
