Laken Riley’s father files wrongful death lawsuit against Board of Regents, Athens apartment complex

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — The father of Laken Riley, the nursing student killed while jogging on the University of Georgia’s campus, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit alleging that university officials and a nearby apartment complex were negligent in the lead-up to her death.

Jason Riley filed the complaint on Feb. 23 in Gwinnett County State Court. He’s naming the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, The Argo Apartments, Azulyk Athens LLC, and property manager Omar Zavala as defendants.
