For the last three years, the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in Suwanee has opened its doors to students from the Gwinnett County School of Mathematics, Science and Technology (GSMST) who are interested in careers in healthcare.
The interns — there have been about 15 GSMST students who have come through the program, said JoAnn Willette, manager of PCOM’s Clinical Simulations — receive hands-on, real-world training and have even developed products that started out as capstone projects.
