Local Law Enforcement Warns of Citation Scam

Royston Police are warning citizens about a citation scam originating via text message.

According to Police Chief Brooks Moorhead, citizens have reported receiving a text message stating that an unknown violation occurred in Atlanta and demanding they scan a QR code to pay a $150 or more fine.

Moorhead posted an image of an official-looking document supposedly from Atlanta Municipal Court in Fulton County and said if you receive such a document, either by text, email, or snail mail, it’s a scam.
