GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies in Gwinnett County arrested a man they say is involved in a jury duty scam.
The investigation began when the Jail Intelligence Unit investigators received a report from a victim who said he was contacted by a man who identified themselves as Officer Shepard regarding a jury duty issue.
The caller, later identified as Garrett Thompson, instructed the victim to pay $1,350 or turn himself in to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office. The victim told police that he believed the Thompsons’ request was legitimate, and sent money to the number Thompson provided…
