SUGAR HILL, Ga. — After more than seven decades, a U.S. Army soldier killed during the Korean War will finally return home, with a public repatriation ceremony planned in Sugar Hill to honor his service and sacrifice.
The remains of Sgt. 1st Class Leslie Hamilton Solomon, who was listed as Missing in Action in 1950, have been officially identified by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency. The ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at American Legion Post 127.
Solomon served in Headquarters and Battery D, 15th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. He went missing on Dec. 2, 1950, after his convoy was ambushed near the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea…
