A Cherokee County restaurant owner is being remembered for his love for his family and community.
Michael “Mike” Farrar died March 14 after a two-year battle with prostate cancer. He died at his home in Hickory Flat surrounded by family. He was 62.
“He fought bravely and made it his mission to spread awareness about prostate cancer and to urge men to get their prostate checked. He was part of a group called Blue Ribbon Cherokee that worked toward those causes,” his wife, Shelly Farrar, said. “He knew his time was limited once he was diagnosed because he had an aggressive form of it. With the time he had left, he spent it with family, helping to feed the community and spreading awareness, all while maintaining his strong faith in God.”…
