No new trial for former Doraville police officer convicted of killing teen, judge rules

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A former Doraville police officer convicted of kidnapping and murdering a 16-year-old girl will not get a new trial, a judge decided.

The Monday filing denied Miles Bryant’s motion for a retrial, following a February court hearing that went over the evidence again.

In June 2024, a jury found Bryant guilty of malice murder, felony murder and kidnapping in the death of 16-year-old Susana Morales, who disappeared in July 2022. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
