Alpharetta-Milton alliance could enhance Windward

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Alpharetta officials say a mixed-use project near Ga. 400 is an early example demonstrating the success of collaborations with the City of Milton that could shape development in the Windward and Deerfield communities.

At an April 13 meeting, the Alpharetta City Council approved what officials hope is the first of many redevelopment projects since the Windward Livable Centers Initiative study, a joint effort between Alpharetta, Milton and True North 400 Community Improvement District.

“Basically, we acknowledge that development doesn’t stop at the jurisdictional boundary down two cities,” said Michael Woodman, Alpharetta Planning and Development Services manager. “And a lot of times it overlaps.”…
