Two spectators seriously injured and hospitalized in Cobb County after crash during drifting exhibition

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Two people were seriously injured and sent to the hospital on Sunday night when a drifting exhibition went wrong in Cobb County, police said.

According to the Cobb County Police Department, organizers arranged a “car meet” at an office park location on The Bluffs in south Cobb, not far from Six Flags. As part of the meetup, they set up an “area inside barricades for participants to perform ‘drifting’ maneuvers.”

Around 9:30 p.m., a gray 2009 Pontiac sedan was performing as part of the drifting exhibition when “the driver lost control of the vehicle” and “collided with the barricades on the western side of the parking lot and subsequently collided with several spectators.”…
