Bishop Hills & Other Residents Spoke At Tuesday’s City Council Meeting

There was plenty of emotion during Tuesday’s City Council meeting as citizens spoke during Public Comment. A number of residents in and around the Bishop Estates area spoke of what they saw in the days prior to the May 17 fire that started in Cell 10 of the Amarillo Landfill that became the Stinky Fire that consumed 52 homes, damaged a total of 77.

Frank Danner said he and his family moved there 6 years ago. He said had the fire been caused by a lightning strike, he could understand. However, it appears the cause may have been human assisted and he calls out those in charge for hiding behind the truth.

“Our entire neighborhood was filled up with plastic smoke from the landfill that we were told is non-toxic because the landfill doesn’t allow hazmat in. And then the next day, we heard from AI video about how ‘oh well, we can’t control what the people throw away.’ Well, both of those things are true and to use the truth to evade responsibility is completely cowardly.”…
