Route 66 Is Turning 100 and Amarillo Is Throwing the Party of the Century

2026 marks the 100th Anniversary of Route 66. This route isn’t just a road; it’s a nostalgic lifestyle. The Mother Road travels 178 miles through Texas, including Shamrock, straight through Amarillo, with the halfway point in Adrian. Stretching over 2,400 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica, Route 66 has been a part of our history for a century.  As they say, Get Your Kicks on Route 66.

A Century on the Mother Road

For the last three years, the Texas Route 66 Festival has been gearing up for the biggest celebration of the Mother Road. This isn’t just a block party. This is the party that has been 100 years in the making. This is the big one. It’s a landmark year: Route 66 celebrates 100 years, and the country celebrates 250 years.

People from all over the country will be embarking on a trip to travel all 178 miles to celebrate this milestone and it will bring them to our neck of the woods.

Ten Days of Texas Panhandle Celebration

Ten days of celebration start on June 4 and will wrap up with a huge festival on June 13. From parades to classic car shows, music, rodeos, and even a cattle drive, the Texas celebration is right here in the heart of the Texas Panhandle. People from all over will stay here and travel to all our small towns on Route 66 to celebrate…
