1 arrested for allegedly racing on the highway in Northeast Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Police Department reports that possible racing on the highway resulted in a traffic accident on Saturday in Northeast Amarillo.

According to APD, at around 6:30 p.m. on June 6, an officer saw two cars possibly racing in the area on North Grand Street and NE 24th Avenue.

APD stated that while officers attempted to catch up to the cars, they observed Abel Morales, 21, driving a grey Chevrolet Camaro, hit a curb before losing control of the vehicle.

Officials added that Morales hit multiple unoccupied vehicles and a fence before flipping and hitting a tree.

Morales was then taken to a local hospital and later booked into Potter County Jail for “Racing on the Highway.”…
