The Historic Amarillo Building, located at 301 S. Polk St., is celebrating its centennial anniversary with a landmark community project: a city-wide call for 100 photographs capturing the last century of life in Amarillo.
They are looking for historic photographs of Polk Street, lost landmarks, community events, familiar faces, everyday moments. The selected images will become part of a permanent display inside the building, described as “Amarillo’s first skyscraper and the city’s most prestigious professional address for 100 years” in a news release, creating a living tribute to the city and the people who built it.
The project, spearheaded by building owners Kevin and Ginger Nelson, asks Amarilloans to search their family albums, attics, and archives for images that tell the story of Amarillo from 1925 to today…
