Transformation Park officials discussed recent encampments

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Officials with Transformation Park announced they are aware of multiple encampments being seen in the area of Transformation Park and The HUB.

The definition of an encampment that officials are referring to is a group of tents, makeshift shelters, or structures set up in outdoor or public spaces by people experiencing homelessness.

“Transformation Park does not own either piece of property. Therefore, we have no authority over what they do. The one next to the shelter is owned by a corporation. It’s not even privately owned,” explained Mark Zimmerman, Executive Director of Transformation Park. “So we rarely see them. So when they are here, they do try to take care of it; they ask everybody to leave. Then within hours or days, we have new campers coming in.”
