Amarillo Fire to begin mitigation project on 9th Street Trails Aug. 24

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Fire Department announced that its Wildland Team will begin a mitigation project on the 9th Street Trails next week.

According to AFD, this project, beginning on Monday, Aug. 24, aims to provide a dual benefit by creating defensible space to reduce the potential impact of a fire while also improving the overall appearance and appeal of 9th Street Trails.

Officials said this project should be complete by Friday. Twenty-four personnel are assigned to this project, working approximately three 8-hour days.
