AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Amarillo SPCA is encouraging the community to consider adopting a shelter pet as the nonprofit continues caring for dozens of dogs and cats while operating at or near capacity.
Debra Hall, office manager for the Amarillo SPCA, said the shelter is seeing a steady number of stray animals brought in by community members whenever space is available.
“It is important for us to help the community out because we take these animals off the street,” Hall said. “We don’t want them out running loose, getting attacked by another dog or another, getting run over, getting out in the street. We’d rather have them here and know that they’re safe than out on the street.”
