Amarillo memorial to honor Texas Panhandle first responders set to open in October

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Texas Panhandle First Responders Memorial will open Oct. 28 in downtown Amarillo, honoring firefighters, police officers and EMS personnel who died in the line of duty.

A dedication ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT at the memorial site at 11th and Polk. The ceremony will also be streamed live online for those unable to attend in person.

The memorial, which organizers say is the first of its kind in the region, is nearing completion. It will honor first responders from 26 counties across the Texas Panhandle who gave their lives in the line of duty…
